WEEK FIVE AND A RULE CLARIFICATION!!!

Rule clarification (please read)

Picks are due each week by 6 Pm CDT on the day of the week's first game.
ANY picks received after kickoff of the first game will automatically lose not only that first game but the 4 point penalty as well. For example - this weeks first game is Thursday with a kickoff at 7:30 ET (6:30 CDT) If a poolie submits their picks after the deadline that games choice will be automatically removed and they will also be given a 4 point penalty. If they were to submit their picks after the start of the weeks second game (Friday 9 pm ET) they would lose both games picks and a 4 point penalty. I will try to send out reminder emails before each weeks picks are due but if you can't figure out when the games start each week you can check the TSN website (link provided on this blog).

As mentioned this weeks picks are due on Thursday and just a reminder that this is the one and only 5 point suicide week. If you decide to use it each game correct will gain you 5 points but each game incorrect will lose you 5 points. Hence, 3 right (15) minus 2 wrong (10) would leave you with 5 points for the week.

Now, to week five!

Interesting week for a lot of poolies. The Bomber upset of the Als caught the majority off-guard and tonights thrashing of the Riders threw everyone but 2 for a loop. Congrats go out to my lovely wife Cindy as she was the only perfect week! She vowed to not embarass our child with her lowly standing in the CFL pool and is obviously serious about that pledge.

IT'S A BOY!!!

Just a quick note to inform all you poolies that as of yesterday morning El Presidente is now a daddy!

Jacob Abram Sawatzky was born at 1:42 AM yesterday morning and both he and his Mom Cindy are doing fine. Her only regret was that at the time of his birth she was languishing at the bottom of the Pool (a dubious distinction she vows to correct!)

We immediately knew he would do fine in this world because of his above-average intelligence. How did we know he was smart, you ask? Because he's already started talking! He looked me in the eyes, crinkled up his little baby lips and whispered, "Argos suck!"

WEEK FOUR RESULTS

Week four has come and gone with a change on top of the leaderboard. East Coast sensation Grant Hilliard has rocketed to the top with a bold ( and perfect) four-pointer. Congrats Grant!

Thanks to Greg Loeppky, Jonathan Hildebrand, Eymond Toupin, Dr. Don Klassen and Ron Koop for ponying up their ten bucks. For all those who have not paid you have until Thursday July 28 to get me the cash. Otherwise 4 points per week will automatically be deducted from your points (and I will do it!) Box 2463, Altona, MB, R0G 0B0

Picks for week five are due by 6:00 PM Thursday. Chad, I'm not sure whats up with your email but the first email you sent this week was completely blank. Just to let you know. And from now on please have them in by 6 PM. Anything after 6 PM will NOT be accepted unless certified as having been recorder prior to kickoff by another poolie (this means you El Duque!)

Can this man possibly save our season? Is Runny Pants really a Koop? (all the other Koops I know are tall and skinny...) Whats this about a team on the East Coast? I thought all those Easterners did was drink Keiths and bitch about the "caaahd" moratorium... Why do my picks suck? Is El Duque really a teacher, or just an unemployed bum?

These and any other question can be debated right here...

WEEK ONE RESULTS (AGAIN!)

Okay, so this is actually week two in the CFL schedule but for us here at the Super-Happy-Fun CFL Pool its only Week One!

Before I get to the results let me extend a hearty thanks to the kindness and understanding of all you Poolies out there. After the unexpected demise of my dear close Dell Dimension 4400 a lot of you sent e-cards of condolence. Just a few examples...

"Get that piece of crap up and running you loser!" - deposed-Czar, Mark Klassen

"I'm jumping on the next JetsGo flight to come out there and wring your scrawny neck in person!" - Ron (Runny Pants) Koop

"Hey El Presidente, will this make it easier or harder to fudge my picks like my big bro Mark used to?" - Chad Klassen

"Pool? What Pool?" - Myron (El Duque) Dyck

Thanks to you all, I could almost feel the warmth and love as I read those messages at Jake and Frieda's house. As for the lawsuit with Microsoft I'm sure it'll come through and help make the prize situation this season juicier than ever.

Now, on to the results! With 21 Poolies this year it'll be a hard-fought season of mind-numbing picks. Hey, who'd have picked Ottawa to take the Alouettes? Apparently no one...

+ - denotes 4-point weeks used - 3 max.

# - denotes 5-point (suicide) week used - 1 only

If there are any discrepancies with this list please let me me know.. I believe I got everyone's picks via email and I'm hoping I didn't lose any. Notably missing though is Mr. David G. Unger. After picking a perfect 17 point week he doesn't even send in his picks! Sore? I guess we'll see...

Congrats to the three gents who picked up a slim lead with 12 points. Nice to see that Chad and Mark together barely equal their father...

As for everyone else, a bit of a tough week. That Montreal game took everyone by surprise. See you all next week and lets get some chatter going on this Blog!
