Congratulations Dan on the big finish. Man, you haven't received that much money for doing so little since your last royalty cheque! Just kidding. Your picks were as well-thought out as your heavy bass lines. I assume that the drinks will be on you at the Eastern Final.
Doc, another fine showing. Way to show the Pool that your family's success in previous years wasn't completely a result of the Czar's point rigging. Treat yourself to a burger at Twisters and follow it up with a coffee at Smitty's. You've earned it.
And Grant, it's good to see you up there in the final three. You made your way to the top like a Maritimer working his way to the front of the line at the Pogie Store - slow and steady. Perhaps you can put your pool earnings towards a down payment on a stadium for the Halifax Explosions - or if nothing else, a new run of Explosions business cards.
This is the first year that the winner of the pool did not live at 562 Wardlaw Avenue in Winnipeg. I figured that as a former resident I was a shoo-in to win this year. I guess I'd actually have to make good picks for that to happen - or have a family member rigging the points.
Alas, the Koop shall rise again. Mark my words: 2006 will be the year of the Koop! And of course, I look forward to topping off the year of the Koop in Winnipeg, watching the Argos win their third Grey Cup in as many years! See you Manitobans (and Nova Scotians, of course) there! (Czar, can I crash on your porch?)
In the meantime, let's keep this pool going. It's a great way to keep in touch and make fun of the Duke.
That reminds me: Swatter/El Presidente, you did a great job. Thank you for taking the reigns at short notice and keeping this pool alive. I know that this year was not without it's scandals, what with the accusations of you being a hard-ass and all. (I'd like to refer to it as "Hard-ass-gate" from now on, if that's alright with the rest of you.) But you survived and even got close to finishing third. Good job.
Let's do it again next year.

Grant, what I clearly lack in the field of football prognastication, I more than make up in the arena of cockiness, assholery and general bastardry. Just ask all the poolies from Winnipeg, they'll confirm this!
As for my predictions on the upcoming playoffs, I must remind you of my poor record in picking winners this year in the pool. That having been said, I think it's going to be another BC/Toronto Grey Cup and you can guess who I'm betting on to take it all.

"Beer and limos," Dan? I notice the implication of more than one limo. Does that mean that both of us get our own limo to the Eastern Finals? Please let me know by November 19th so that I can plan ahead.
My personal suggestion to Dan regarding the spending of the money: (and I'm assuming that giving free beer to the Koop is out of the question...) Re-invest. Put it all towards the 50-50 draw at the next game. You have to spend money to make money.
Signed,
The Koop.
